“Miro (Keep the Ball Rolling)”

** March 6, 2018 **: Update: Miro won! Thank you, Burlington!

(Scroll down for lyrics…)

Six years after my original song for Miro, I’m back with a new one promoting (now-incumbent) Miro Weinberger’s candidacy for Mayor of Burlington, Vermont (USA).

Miro (Keep the Ball Rolling)

2012 and we were on thin ice
Weighed down by debt and couldn’t pay the price
No future for our city’s Internet
But then the people made a smarter bet

We’re on a roll (oh, oh)
      The energy’s showing
      We’re voting Miro (oh, oh)
      To keep the ball rolling

We’re on a roll (oh, oh)
      We know where we’re going
      We’re voting Miro (oh, oh)
      To keep the ball rolling
      Keep the ball rolling

He got BT back on an even keel
Made things better for your bike and skateboard wheels
His middle name is “fiscal responsibility”
And works to grow our city’s diversity

We’re on a roll (oh, oh)
      The energy’s showing
      We’re voting Miro (oh, oh)
      To keep the ball rolling

We’re on a roll (oh, oh)
      We know where we’re going
      We’re voting Miro (oh, oh)
      To keep the ball rolling
      Keep the ball rolling

A plan to make our infrastructure sustainable
And make affordable housing more attainable
Early learning, public health, and Net Zero, too
And every week he’s having coffee with you

We’re on a roll (oh, oh)
      The energy’s showing
      We’re voting Miro (oh, oh)
      To keep the ball rolling

We’re on a roll (oh, oh)
      We know where we’re going
      We’re voting Miro (oh, oh)
      To keep the ball rolling
      Keep the ball rolling

Oh oh, oh oh, let’s go Miro…

  1. Smart lyrics and a catchy melody, as always. The “oh oh” part is infectious, and really makes the refrain, and hence Miro’s name, stick in your mind, as a good jingle ought to. With a song like this in his sails, how can Miro not win the race!?
